A Leader Is Not An Eagle
a leader is not an eagle, we'd all be dead Crayola issues ultimate set of colors so I turn to the birds There is an eagle we worship that was fucked by a Cuisinart so this outpouring is unusual for me but not so with a flood of rage and dread and compassion We engineers of the present tense two packaging tape eyes, brain a double candelabra, ears submerged there a double thump protests We bathers We carriers dump false eyes completely Diver is in the forest and at sun's decent migrate raw nerves on fire, nurture them If it's efficiency you're looking for, then no the bald ego and other fantasies. -BK March 2017 Branden Koch was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His work has been exhibited in NYC at Helper Projects, Pace University, Brennan and Griffin, Regina Rex, Edward Thorp Gallery, Soloway Fine Arts. National exhibitions include Romer Young Gallery, SF, CA; The Harwood Art Center, Albuquerque, NM; High Energy Constructs, LA, CA; SPACES, Cleveland, OH. His work has been reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail, ArtSlant, The Chicago Sun Times, Artillery Magazine, featured in Shifter Magazine. He has received artist grants from The Haven Foundation, Artist?s Fellowship Inc., and Mayer Foundation. Branden earned a BFA from The Cleveland Institute of Art in 2001, and an MFA from Bard College in 2005. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and 4 year old son.
